Our congregation traces its roots back to the revival meetings of the early 1800’s, when the mainline denominations of Europe were having trouble keeping up with the pioneering spirit of America. Alexander Campbell and Barton Stone rose to prominence in those days espousing a return to simple New Testament Christianity as a departure from the fighting and territorialism that had dominated denominational church history since the Reformation. We are proud of our heritage but avoid letting it become another sectarian division between us and others. We believe in simple adherence to the Bible in light of the glorious freedom given to us through the New Covenant. With these distinctives from our past we often feel both old fashioned to some and delightfully free of traditional arguments to others. Our only distinctive is Jesus who leads us to cherish the past as we innovate for continuing and future relevance.
THE EXALTATION OF JESUS CHRIST above all human authorities and His Word above all human creeds. (Colossians 1:15-20)
THE RESTORATION OF NEW TESTAMENT (NEW COVENANT) CHRISTIANITY and the consequent union of all followers of Christ in one body. (John 17:21, Hebrews 8:10-13)
THE CONGREGATIONAL FELLOWSHIP OF OUR LOCAL CHURCH in common fellowship, support, worship, study, and obedience. (Acts 2:42-47)
THE NURTURING OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH in everyone and through every relationship, so that we all may take one step closer to Jesus. (Galatians 5:13-26)
THE SHARING OF THE GOSPEL (GOOD NEWS) WITH THOSE WHO HAVE NOT HEARD, using the clear teaching and examples of the New Testament. (Romans 1:17-18, Acts 2:14-47; 8:35-39, Hebrews 8:10-13)
